Dr Ismail Banoo has over 25 years of research experience in natural and water resources management. Dr Banoo presently serves on several scientific committees, reference and workings groups in the capacity of senior scientific advisor. This work forms part of his long-standing professional practitioner accreditations, with the Water Institute of Southern Africa (WISA) and the International Water Association (IWA). He also holds registration as a professional Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAPASA) in South Africa. He has completed various national and international research and executive training development programs as offered jointly by the University of Kwa Zulu Natal (UKZN) Graduate School of Business and at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), where he previously worked as a programme manager. He has gained extensive research and governance experience from serving on the governing boards and committees of several international trans-disciplinary science and technology research projects and programs. His current passion is capacity building, skills transfer and supporting younger scientists advance their research career paths. During the course of his career, he has published numerous journal articles, conference papers, policies, technical reports and book chapters, including having supervised several Masters and PhD students. He is also serving as a journal editor and external examiner with a number of collaborating partner universities across South Africa and internationally.
