Laboratory Facilities

The WASH R&D Centre maintains a modernized Bioprocess Engineering Laboratory with specialized equipment for conducting experiments in wastewater and sanitation. The laboratory is mainly used to investigate human excreta and sewage from the perspective of obtaining design and process data for on-site, decentralised and conventional wastewater treatment facilities.

Testing & Cost of analyses

The Centre laboratory undertakes a variety of tests, namely Chemical; Microbial; Thermal; Mechanical and Physicochemical testing. For cost of analyses, a cost-recovery method is used, and pricing is reviewed on an annual basis.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Detailed SOPs have been written for each of the tests conducted in the WASH R&D Centre laboratory.
