The analytical laboratory consists of specialist equipment that enables the accurate characterization of samples in terms of mechanical, physical, chemical and biological properties. Hand held field equipment is also available, as are the more rapid spectroquant tests.
The Helminth Laboratory is headed up by a specialist parasitologist and is well equipped to handle water, sanitation, and environmental samples.
The Helminth Lab processes:
(1) pig faeces from our Ascaris-Pig-Farm to isolate Ascaris suum eggs for research purposes as well as for sale to other researchers,
(2) samples from waste-water treatment works and on-site sanitation systems, and
(3) environmental samples, e.g., soil, plant matter, earth worm castings, black-soldier-fly larvae, etc.
